PBY-5A Catalina

Install the PBY-5A Catalina to your FSX \SimObjects\Airplanes folder or FS2004 \aircraft folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page. For FSX, press the 'S' key to view the 3D virtual cockpit; press 'A' to cycle to the 2D cockpit. Press 'S' to cycle to the spot plane view. For FS2004, press the 'S' key to see the 2D cockpit; press the 'S' key again to see the 3D cockpit and twice more to see the aircraft from the spot plane view. Here's a quick walk around: Move the stick forward and back to see elevators move up and down. Move the stick from side to side to see the rudder move side to side. Press '/' to deploy the spoilers. Press Shift + 'E' to see the main door and close Press Shift + 'E' and quickly tap number '2' to see the secondary exit open and close From the virtual cockpit view, to open and close the window, simply click on the window. To lower and raise the floats or sponsoons on the wing tips, first click the switch on the FE panel, Press Shift + "3" and click the switch in the top left. In the 3D cockpit view you'll see the stick and pedals move.

Takeoff Taxi to the runway. You won't need flaps for takeoff. Apply full throttle. When you reach about 80 knots, rotate to liftoff. Raise the landing gear and climb to assigned altitude at about 90 knots.

Landing Approach speed is about 90 knots. You'll want to deploy full flaps on final and maintain speed of 80 knots. Over the numbers you'll be about 70 knots as you touchdown on the main gear.
