Flying the DA40 TDI Diamond Star

Install the DA40 TDI Diamond Star to your FSX \SimObjects\Airplanes folder or FS2004 \aircraft folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page.

Press the 'S' key to see the 2D cockpit; press the 'S' key again to see the 3D cockpit and twice more to see the aircraft from the spot plane view. Here's a quick walk around:

  • Press 'E' to start the engine.
  • Press the yoke forward and back to see elevators move up and down.
  • Move the yoke from side to side to see the three rudders move in tandem.
  • Shift + 'E' to see the main door and close
  • In the 3D cockpit view you'll see the yoke and pedals move.

Takeoff

Taxi to the runway. You won't need flaps for takeoff.

Apply full throttle.

When you reach about 70 knots, rotate to liftoff.

Build up speed to about 90 knots and climb to assigned altitude.

Landing

Approach speed is about 90 knots.

You can drop full flaps on final and maintain speed of 75 knots.

Stall speed is a slow 50 knots so you'll be able to gently settle onto the main gear.
