Flying the Cessna 162 SkyCatcher

Install the Cessna 162 SkyCatcher into your main FSX folder or your main FS2004 folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page.

For FSX, press the 'S' key to see the 3D cockpit; press the 'A' key to cycle to the 2D cockpit. Press 'S' to cycle to the Spot Plane view.

For FS2004, press the 'S' key to see the 2D cockpit; press the 'S' key again to see the 3D cockpit and twice more to see the aircraft from the Spot Plane view.

Here's a quick walk around:

  • Move the stick forward and back to see the elevators move up and down
  • Move the stick from side to side to see the ailerons move up and down
  • Press Shift + 'E' to open and close the pilot's door.
  • Press Shiift + 'E', then quickly press '2' at the top of the keyboard to open the passenger door.
  • In the 3D cockpit view, you'll see the stick and pedals move.

Takeoff

Taxi to the runway. You won't need flaps for takeoff.

Apply full throttle.

When you reach about 60 knots, rotate to lift off.

Build up speed to about 80 knots and climb to cruising altitude.


Landing

Approach speed is about 80 knots.

You can drop the flaps on final and maintain a speed of 65 knots.

Stall speed is a slow 45 knots so you'll be able to gently settle onto the main gear.
