Flying the TBF-1C Avenger

Install the TBF-1C Avenger into your FSX \SimObjects\Airplanes folder or FS2004 \aircraft folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page. Press the 'S' key to see the 2D cockpit; press the 'S' key again to see the 3D cockpit and twice more to see the aircraft from the spot plane view. Here's a quick walk around: Press 'E' to start the engine. Press the stick forward and back to see the elevator move Press the stick from side to side to see the ailerons move Shift + 'E' to open and close the canopy Press '/' to open and close the bomb bay doors Takeoff This taildragger with a powerful engine can takeoff without much help. From starting position, accelerate to about 75 knots and push stick forward slightly to raise the tail. At about 90 knots, pull back to lift the main gear from the runway. When abeam the end of the runway, retract the landing gear (press the 'G' key) and you'll quickly build up speed. Climb to crusing altitude. Landing On long final, you can approach at about 120 knots. On short final, with landing gear extended and flaps down, you'll be flying about 100 knots. Over the numbers, touchdown on main gear and keep tail wheel off the runway surface. As you decelerate, the tail wheel will gently settle onto runway.
