on our installation page.
The Spitfire
MK9 was one of the most used fighters of World War II. The
Premier Collection version looks and flies great.
The RR Merlin
engine watercooled engine provides excellent performance.
Look at the
Spitfire MK9 from spot plane view (by pressing the 'S' key twice).
Here's a quick walk around:
- Press 'E'
to start the engine and see the prop spin.
- Press F8 to
see the flaps slowly drop into position and you'll also see the
transparent bubble cockpit slide backwards.
- Press the
stick forward and back to see the elevator move up and down.
- Press the
stick from side to side to see the rudder and ailerons move.

Takeoff
With such a powerful engine, you'll get up to spped quickly.
Give it full throttle and your tail will rise when you reach
65 knots or so. Lift off at about 85 knots. The Spitfire has
no trouble becoming airborne!
Watchh as the
landing gear smoothly retracts and the canopy will slowly slide
into place.
The Spitfire
easily climbs at more than 3000 feet per minute.
From spot view,
watch all of the control surfaces move.

Landing
Approach speed
on short final is about 120-130 knots here using full flaps.
You'll notice that these are split flaps.
Being a taildragger,
set the Spitfire gently down on the main gear while the speed
bleed off and then drops down onto the tailwheel.
