Vans RV-6 from the Premier Collection

Flying the Vans RV-6

Install the Vans RV-6 to your FS2004 or FS2002 \aircraft folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page.

Press the 'S' key to see the 2D cockpit; press the 'S' key again to see the 3D cockpit and twice more to see the helicopter from the spot plane view. Here's a quick walk around:

  • Press 'E' to start the engine.
  • Press the stick forward and back to see elevators move upand down.l
  • Shift + 'E' to see the main door open and close
  • In the 3D cockpit view you'll see the stick and pedals move.

Takeoff
Taxi out to the runway.

Apply full throttle. The RV-6 accelerates quickly.

You can rotate at about 60 mph. When airborne, accelerate to about 80 mph.

Climb to desired altitude.

Landing

The RV-6 handles well at slow speeds.

Approach speed is about 80 mph.

With flaps, stall speed is 50 mph so you'll have great leaway in landing.

Set down on the main gear and you'll ease down onto the tail wheel.
