Flying the DHC-2 Beaver

Install the DHC-2 Beaver to your FS2004 or FS2002 \aircraft folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page.

Press the 'S' key to see the 2D cockpit; press the 'S' key again to see the 3D cockpit and twice more to see the helicopter from the spot plane view. Here's a quick walk around:

  • Press 'E' to start the engine.
  • Press the stick forward and back to see elevators move upand down.
  • Shift + 'E' to see the door open and close
  • In the 3D cockpit view you'll see the stick and pedals move.

Takeoff

Taxi out to the runway aligned with the center line.

When you've accelerated to about 60 knots, push the stick forward slightly to lift the tail wheel off the runway surface. At about 80 knots, you'll be able to pull back on the stick gently to liftoff.

When airborne, climb to crusing altibude.

Landing

At pattern altitude, reduce speed to about 90 knots.

On final, you can extend the flaps. Stall speed is about 50 knots without flaps, so you'll be landing at a slow speed.

Gently settle the Beaver on its main wheels and the tail wheels with ease you down.
