Flying the DeHavilland DHC-8-Q200

Install the DeHavilland DCH-8-Q200 into your FSX \SimObjects\Airplanes folder or FS2004 \aircraft folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page.

Press the 'S' key to see the 2D cockpit; press the 'S' key again to see the 3D cockpit and twice more to see the aircraft from the spot plane view.

Here's a quick walk around:

  • Press 'E' to start the engine.
  • Press the yoke forward and back to see the elevator move
  • Press the yoke from side to side to see the ailerons move
  • Shift + 'E' to see the cabin door open and close

Takeoff

For takeoff, use 15 degrees of flaps. Taxi out the the runway and line up. When you've been cleared, apply full throttle.

With maximum load, rotate at 132 knots, pull back and you're airborne.

When abeam the end of the runway, retract the landing gear (press the 'G' key) and flaps up.

Climb to cruising altitude at 140 knots.

Landing

For approach, fly 100 knots using 15 degrees of flaps

On short final, lower landing gear and drop flaps to 35 degrees.

Approach speed is 125 knots.
