Flying the A-4E Skyhawk

Install the A-4E Skyhawk to your FSX \SimObjects\Airplanes folder or FS2004 or FS2002 \aircraft folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page.

Press the 'S' key to see the 2D cockpit; press the 'S' key again to see the 3D cockpit and twice more to see the helicopter from the spot plane view. Here's a quick walk around:

  • Press 'E' to start the engine.
  • Press the stick forward and back to see elevators move upand down.l
  • Shift + 'E' to see the canopy open and close
  • In the 3D cockpit view you'll see the stick and pedals move.

Takeoff

Taxi out to the runway and sSet flaps for takeoff (full).

Set the brakes (. key) and advance the throttle. When N1 is 80%, release the brakes.

When you accelerate to about 120 knots, pull back on the stick gently to liftoff.

When abeam the end of the runway, retract the landing gear ('G') and climb to assigned altitude. The Skyhawk has lots of power for easy climbs.

Landing

At pattern altitude, reduce speed to about 150 knots.

On final, extend landing gear and drop full flaps as you slow to an approach speed of about 110 to 120 knots.

Over the numbers cut throttle and you'll settle onto the runway.
