Flying the A-10 Thunderbolt

Install the Abacus A-10 Thunderbolt into your FSX \SimObjects\Airplanes folder or FS2004 \aircraft folder. If you haven't already done so, follow the instructions on our installation page. Press the 'S' key twice to look at the A-10 from spot plane view. Here's a quick walk around: Press 'E' to start the engine and see the prop spin. Press F8 to see the flaps slowly drop into position. Press the stick forward and back to see the elevator move up and down. Press the stick from side to side to see the rudder and ailerons move. After you take off, press 'G' to see the landing gears fold into the underbelly. Takeoff The twin GE TF34-GE-100 engines spin to produce more than 9000 pounds of thrust each. Rev the engines and have patience until you're moving at about 110 knots. With a full load, you're moving more than 50,000 pounds. After lift off, retract the gear to build up airspeed. Once airborne, you'll be able to accelerate quickly. From spot view, you can watch the smooth control surfaces move. Performance The Warthog can move along at 360 knots up to 45,000 feet. It's designed to stay out of the sites of the ammunition. Landing When you're ready to land, you can approach speed the runway at about 120 knots. Use full flaps.
