F4F-4 Wildcat

Grumman designed the F4F as the first carrier based monoplane. The F4F-4 model had more powerful engine, increased armament, self-sealing fuel tanks, armor, and folding wings than the earlier variants. Eventually, Grumman built 1,168 aircraft which was used mostly by the US Navy and US Marines in early World War II.

In particular, the Wildcat fought in the early Pacific battles in the Coral Sea, Midway and Guadalcanal. It also flew in support of the invasion of North Africa in 1942. Massimo Taccoli and Dennis Seeley modeled this warbird for FSX, FS2004 and FS2002.
