The Martin B-26 Marauder served in all major battle theaters. As 1941 was drawing to a close, the USAAF 22nd Bomb Group was shipped to Australia after the attack on Pearl Harbor and was equipped with the Marauder. This batch of Marauders engaged in its first battle mission, a raid on a Japanese base to help secure the South Pacific on New Britain in April 1942.
