Bombardier CL-415
Designed from the beginning to be a fire fighter, the CL-415 is a huge floating boat amphibian.
Its massive hull is a store for more than 1600 gallons (6000 liters) of water or water/foam mixture.
To refill the water tanks, fly slow and low and skim the surface the water. Do it properly in 4000 feet and you'll be refilled and ready for the next pass over the burning area.
Bombardier CL-415 - a firefighter from the start
The CL-415 is powered by two heavy-duty Pratt & Whitney PW123AF turboprops. These monster engines fly the CL-415 up to 200 knots over a range of 1300 nm.
Being an amphibian, it's a flexible aircraft making it very useful for other missions such search and resue, transport, water patrol and surveillance.
This CL-415 has a distinctive paint on its nose and is designed by Massimo Taccoli.
