A Simple 3D Scenery Object
Here's Scenery Apprentice in action. Let's make a water tower to add to our Flight Simulator scenery..
1. From FSDSA's set of BasicShapes, we choose a sphere to add to our project. FSDSA conveniently displays a preview the part.
2. The sphere is appears in the center of the screen. Here is the Front view. Next add a tube to the project. The tube will become the water tower base. It is placed in the center of the screen.
3 .Next move the base until it is it is positioned beneath the sphere.
Use the grid lines to align the parts and to adjust the dimensions.4. We change the color of the surface to a bright yellow and the changes are instantly reflected in all four views of the FSDSA window. 5. The Perspective view shows you how the water tower will appear in Flight Simulator.
A single click turns the design into an FS-compatible scenery file containing the water tower.6. Finally, start Flight Simulator and you'll see the completed water tower.
How's that for a first project!

How do you know where to position the 3D scenery object? This may be the most ingenous 3D scenery feature ever devised.
- Choose an airport
- Zoom out
- Position your 3D scenery object
- BINGO! - you're done
1. Our airport ID is "KGRR".
FSDSA builds a "map" from all of your Flight Simulator scenery files.
2. The map is displayed in the Top view. Use the zoom in / zoom out tools to display more or less of the map's detail.
3. Using the map, you can precisely position your 3D scenery objects in only a few seconds. Convert is to a scenery file (BGL) and start Flight Simulator.
4. Go to KGRR airport and you'll see this "textured" terminal building sitting at the exact location indicated on the map.
Maps make the difference
