TV Slideshow Studio

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I am getting the following error when trying to install TV Slideshow Studio:

Set up has experienced an error. Please do the following :
- Close any running programs
- Empty your temporary folders
- Check your Internet connection (Internet Base Set up)
Then try to run the set up again. Error code: 6001

I have done all of this and it still won't install. How can I get past this error and install the program?

A. This is an issue with the InstallShield and not TV Slideshow Studio. To get around this error, you will need to delete the InstallShield temporary files from your system before installing TV Slideshow Studio. Removing these temporary files from the hard drive will solve the problem.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Open the C: drive.
  3. Double-click the Program Files folder
  4. Double-click the Common Files folder
  5. Double-click the InstallShield folder
  6. Double-click the Professional folder
Here you will see a folder called 09 and/or 10. These represent different versions of InstallShield.
  7. Click on the 09 folder (if you don't have it, skip to step 9).
  8. When highlighted, press the Delete key on the keyboard. Click Yes to send it to the Recycle Bin.
  9. Click on the 10 folder (if you don't have it, skip to step 11).
  10. When highlighted, press the Delete key on the keyboard. Click Yes to send it to the Recycle Bin.
  11. Once deleted, make sure that all Virus Scanners and Spyware Monitors/Scanners are disabled or closed and start the TV Slideshow Studio installation again.

Q. When I click on a photo image, TV Slideshow Studio disappears from my monitor and I'm left at the desktop. Why?

A. This is caused by a video hardware acceleration incompatibility. To fix this problem, reduce the video hardware acceleration as follows:

1. On the desktop, right-click and choose Properties.

2. Click on the Settings tab.

3. Click on the Advanced button.

This displays the computer's video card adjustment dialog.

For this computer, the dialog looks like this:

4. Click on one of the tabs that controls the hardware acceleration.

Depending on the type of video card, you may have to try several tabs to locate hardware acceleration.

For this computer, we found that hardware acceleration was adjusted using the Troubleshoot tab.

5.Move the Hardware acceleration slider bar to the left.

Moving the slider bar a few notches towards the left is usually sufficient to fix the problem.

Q. When I add my MP3 audio file, I seem to lose any changes to the slideshow after I exit the program. Why?

A. Most likely you are using a filename that contains special characters. Rename the MP3 file so that it has only letters and/or numbers. For example, do not use the characters &, _, or $.

NOTE: This limitation is removed when using TV Slideshow Studio V2.5. As a registered user of TVSSS V1.x, you can get upgrade for free. Click here to download the free upgrade to TVSSS V2.5

Q. How do I adjust the volume?

A. The horizontal line represents the volume level. To increase the volume, drag the line upwards. To decrease the volume, drag the line downwards.

Q. It takes a long time to view thumbnails of pictures that I want to place in my slideshow. Is there a way to speed this up?

A. Place the photos that you plan to use in a separate folder. Place the audio files that you plan to use in a second folder. Having fewer files in a folder speeds up the processing.

NOTE: TV Slideshow Studio V2.5 allows you to have separate tabbed folders for image files and audio files. As a registered user of TVSSS V1.x, you can get upgrade for free. Click here to download the free upgrade to TVSSS V2.5

Q. I'd like to use only a portion of an audio file. How can I do this?

A. TV Slideshow Studio uses all audio starting with the beginning of the file. You'll need to use a separate audio editing program to remove the unwanted sound portions.

Q. What is the best way to save my projects?

A. It's a good idea to save your project incrementally. When making a major change, save the project and also save a backup of the project file by appending the time/and or date to the filename. In the event that you make changes to a project that are unsatisfactory, you can revert to an earlier backup of the project file.
