FSX Q: Why do my aircraft
appear white or blank with no textures in FSX?
FSX A: At this time it
appears as though Microsoft/FSX is no longer supporting the FS2004 style of
textures on aircraft in FSX SP2 running on Windows Vista with the DirectX 10
Preview option turned on. At this time, the only solution is to turn off the
DirectX 10 Preview option in the Display Settings in FSX.
FSX Q: When installing
Flight Deck 4 for FSX, I am unable to install the catapult. I also tried
manually installing the catapult as mentioned in the Readme file but I cannot
locate the DLL.XML file. How do I install the catapult?
FSX A: Download and
install Update 3 which replaces
the original FSX Catapult Installer for the catapult. After running the update,
run the FSX Catapult Installer for FSX from the Start | Programs | Abacus |
Flight Deck 4 menu.
FSX Q: When I change to
one of the Flight Deck 4 aircraft or start some of the presaved flghts that use
one of the Flight Deck 4 aircraft, I end up waiting a long time for he selected
aircraft to load. It almost looks like Flight Simulator X has locked up or
crashed. How can I fix this?
FSX A: Download and
install Update 3 which replaces
several of the aircraft components. After installing this update, the loading
times for all Flight Deck 4 aircraft will be significantly faster.
FSX Q: When I'm flying
around the carrier, the wake sometimes is drawn on top of the carrier. How can I
fix this?
FSX A: Download and
install Update 3 which replaces
all of the aircraft carriers; saved flights and more.
These items were
fixed via previous updates and are also included in the Update 3:
- Unable to install the catapult launcher
- Slow loading time when changing to one of the
Flight Deck 4 aircraft
- Slow loading time when using any of the presaved
flights which use one of the Flight Deck 4 aircraft
These items are fixed in Update 3:
- Aircraft carriers changed to correct wake and
night display
- Replacement preflights required for the aircraft
carriers
- Tailhook toggle gauge added to Greyhound,
Hawkeye and Prower 2D and virtual cockpit panels to allow quick access for
landing
- Catapult and cable locations adjusted for
aircraft carriers
- Catapult speed lowered to 125 knots
- Parking brake strenghened for aircraft stability
during launch

FS2004 Q: I've switched to the new Flight Simulator X. How
do I install Flight Deck 4 to run with FSX?
FS2004 A: All registered users of Flight Deck 4 are
eligible for this free upgrade for FSX. For upgrading to Flight Deck 4 for FSX,
please download and install the
Update 3 for FSX. This
is a full installation of Flight Deck 4 for FSX.
FS2004 Q: FS2004 Only I've been flying with Flight Deck 4
and really like the new features. However, when I fly from the virtual cockpit,
I see a blurring of the screen when I am approaching the carrier. What can I do
to fix this?
FS2004 A: The problem is related to the textures on the
aircraft carrier itself. We have replaced the textures to solve the problem.
Please download and install
Update 1 to correct the
problem.
FS2004 Q: FS2004 Only How can I turn off the afterburners
on the F-18C and F-18E?
FS2004 A: The afterburner visual effect is controlled by a
gauge file that not working consistently. Please download and install
Update 1 to correct
this.
FS2004 Q: How can I change the Nav and Com frequencies on
the F-18C?
FS2004 A: The current aircraft.cfg file incorrectly
reports that the Nav and Com radios have a standby frequency. Radios which have
a standby frequency allow you to change only the standby frequency, then swap
the active with the standby. Please download and install
Update 1 below to fix
the radios.
This update addresses the following:
- The F/A-18C Hornet™ and F/A-18E Super Hornet™ afterburners are now visible
only when the throttle is at 95% or higher.
- The F/A-18C Hornet™ AI tailhook was fixed.
- The F/A-18C Hornet™ and F/A-18E Super Hornet™ radios are updated so they
can be tuned properly with standby frequency.
- The textures for the aircraft carrier textures are changed.
- The previous textures affected the surrounding scenery and aircraft
virtual cockpit views.
- The aircraft carrier has new night lighting.
- The lights now only appear at dawn, dusk and night.
